Saturday Strangers

Hello everyone.  I shared a bench at the park today with Jim and John.  They quickly made it known to me that they were a couple battling terminal cancer.  Them being unaware of my battle with breast cancer, they encouraged me to live, laugh and love the one I'm with cause you never know when life will be taken from you.

I was moved by these two strangers who took time to encourage and uplift me as though they had been knowing me for years.

It's not always wrong to talk to strangers so the next time you see someone you don't know, offer a kind, encouraging or uplifting word.  I'm sure it will make their day better.

Sweater Weather Saturday

Hey everybody on this sweater weather Saturday in my area.  The temperatures this week have been below the norm, hovering around the low 60s right now.

With this being the first weekend of the circus and carnival in town, was hoping for warmer weather.  Oh well, will pass on the evening outdoor festivities and do something more laid back indoors like snoozing the rest of this Saturday.

Wellness Men Wednesday

Didn't want you to feel left out because your health is just as important as the women so here's to you.

I hope you have had a physical recently and if not, please do so.  If there is any family history of cancer, high blood pressure, diabetes, heart attacks, strokes or any other life threatening diseases, do yourself and family a huge favor and be checked.  We want you around with us for a long time.

Don't forget, if you are at that recommended age for a prostrate or colonoscopy exam, go ahead and bite the bullet and get it done.

Money Matters Monday

Welcome to week 3 of Money Monday with today's focus on Money Matters.  Everyone should want to be financially responsible and live within their means to avoid hardships.

Until your next opportunity comes along, the total focus should not be on how much money you make but what you do with the money you do make.

To help ease the tension with your money matters, try believing in this, it's not always going to be like this.  This was one of our household motto's during the 18 months of working 7 days a week to eliminate our credit cards debt.  It took a lot of teamwork, sacrificing and commitment.

Put together a realistic action plan, implement it and commit to it.  You can get back to financial stability if that is your goal.

Tiresome Thursday

Hello, I need a listening ear on this Tiresome Thursday about people and everyday stuff.

Long story short, most people nowadays feel entitled versus working for what they want and being thankful for what they have.  I try my best not to judge people due to not knowing their entire situation, however, when you put me on full blast of what I should be doing for people outside of my household, that changes the scope of things.

To those of you who want designer things and don't have the money to buy them yourself, please don't ask or expect others to buy them for you.  For those of you who are too lazy to work and rather abuse the government welfare system, shame on you.  Let me stop before my BP start rising.

I'm sure we all know or have encountered people like this which is causing honest and hardworking individuals like myself to become weary of these types of people.

Women Wellness Wednesday

Hello Ladies, today's Wellness Wednesday is for us.  We all know that society relies heavily on us when it comes to taking care of the children, home, other family members, and those last minute deadlines at work.  In order for us to continue to be SUPERWOMAN, we must take care of ourselves.

If you haven't had a physical recently, please get one soon.  If you don't have a primary doctor or health insurance, contact your local Department of Health and Human Services or your local hospital for a list of clinics in your area.

If the women are not healthy and well, who's going to step in our SUPERWOMAN'S shoes and effectively perform our daily duties and responsibilities?

Throw Down Tuesday

Hello to all my NBA fans, the playoffs started round 2 yesterday, both road teams the Washington Wizards and the Los Angeles Clippers battled to the end, stunning both home crowds of the Indiana Pacers and Oklahoma City Thunder.

Tonight, Throw Down Tuesday will feature 4 more teams but there should be a better outcome for the home teams.  To my San Antonio Spurs, I expect you to come out blazing against the Portland Trailblazers and as for the Miami Heat vs the Brooklyn Nets may the best team's A game win.

Money Monday Pt2

Hello, are you ready for today in money matters Monday, if so, you should have your written budget done from last Monday's tip.  Take your written budget which should consist of all your monthly expenses and income.

Contact all your creditors who you are not able to pay their minimum due and discuss what you can pay.  TIP:  DO NOT IGNORE YOUR CREDITORS OR ANYONE YOU OWE MONEY.  Most creditors are aware that unforeseen, life changing moments happen to their customers and are willing to work with you as long as you are keeping them informed of your financial situation and making an attempt to pay them something.  Failing to do this simple but difficult suggestion, you can cause a lot more problems for yourself in the future.

Spiritual Sunday Pt2

Hello to the Spiritual Seekers, Believers, Confused Individuals and Lost Individuals.  During the past few weeks, months and years, there has been a lot of tragic, devastating and life changing moments for individuals and families throughout the world.

A lot of these life changing moments that we have witnessed, read about or endured, has caused us to question what is becoming of our society.

Our Spiritual Believers and Seekers call upon Our Heavenly Father for guidance and reassurance but what are we doing for the Confused and Lost individuals?  Are we stretching out our hands to them?  Are we talking and listening to them?  Are we directing them to help?  Are we praying for them?

Just what are we doing or better yet, do we want to do anything to help these individuals? Think about it and ask yourself these questions and if you are truly honest, you may be surprise by your answers.

GOD looks upon our hearts and knows whether we have any authentic desire to be different or if we're all talk.

Finally-Friday

TGIFriday and no, I don't mean the restaurant.  This is one week that I'm glad is finally over.

Let me start by sending my condolences to the families who lost love ones in the horrific tornadoes this week as well as the families who lost love ones to senseless violent crimes.

To the survivors of this week's weather storms, tragic shootings and stabbings, my thoughts and prayers are with you.

To all the talented, entertaining, NBA players, coaches and staff, I understood your disappointing and frustrating demeanor after the racial bombshell dropped in the media.  I've been a sports fan pretty much all my life and after hearing this disgusting news, I was like, what the h--- and couldn't even enjoy Sunday and Monday games.

Although firm action is being taken, it makes me wonder and ask the question, what other sports owner(s) feels this strongly about African Americans or any other minority race?

Wake up America and stop teaching bigotry, it's only hurting our country when we as a nation should be coming together and doing our part to make this a better place for all.

Terrible Traffic Thursday

What a terrible day on the roads which had me shaking my head and pissed off at times.  You wouldn't believe how many women drivers in the fast lane were trying to put on makeup or they were glancing at their phones.  Let me not forget about the men drivers in the fast lane as well glancing at their phones.  COME ON PEOPLE, a human life is more valuable and important than anything you may think about doing behind the wheel other than focusing on driving.

To all distracted drivers, God forbid you cause a tragic accident.  How would you explain it if you survived?  What would you tell your spouse, children, parents, other love ones, co-workers and friends?  What would you say to the victim's family?  Don't say or think, you wouldn't let that happen to you because just as easily as you say it wouldn't, it could easily be said it could.

Just as we advocate against DUI drivers; we are advocating against distracted drivers.  Think about it!

Wellness Wednesday

Hello, we all know we are to eat healthy foods and exercise regularly, so what are our excuses?  For me it was fast food meals and telling myself I'll exercise after work.  After work, I would be too tired.  Then the excess pounds hit me which forced me to put a schedule in writing of my day.

Just like time management in the work place, I implemented time management in my daily schedule to include preparing healthy meals and exercising.  Before starting, I had a checkup with my doctor and of course, she nor I were pleased about my blood pressure.  We discussed diet and regular exercise which I knew all along but kept making excuses.  It was hard getting started but like everything positive in life, once you start seeing positive results, it motivates you to keep doing it.

Treating losing weight as a lifestyle change versus a diet works for me and I'm able to keep the pounds off.  As a 3rd year breast cancer survivor, I'm more cautious now about the types of foods I eat.  My regular diet consists of a lot of fruits and vegetables high in antioxidants, fiber and protein and lean meats.  My meat consumption is far less than before and is not consumed during every meal or everyday.  My water intake far surpass other beverages and I have added a cup of green tea 3 times a day.  I do my best to exercise daily incorporating at least 30 mins of cardio and 10-15 mins of weight training.

Trust me when I say, what may work for me, may not work for you.  Check with a doctor and see what is recommended for you and take that first step to wellness.

Travel Tuesday

Hello, today I'm reaching out to the travelers and those who want to become travelers.  This is a beautiful world so let's enjoy it and explore it.  The career path I chose early in life afforded me opportunities to travel both domestic and international.  Before repeating places, I try to visit places that I haven't been and not to mention, it's always nice to have a traveling companion.  My lastest trip was March of this year to San Francisco and saw a lot of the top tourist spots:  Pier 39, Alcatraz, Chinatown, Golden Gate Bridge just to name a few.
